Radebe from Elukwatini in Mpumalanga was attacked outside his girlfriend, Tshegofatso Ntseke's home in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, on Tuesday evening. The motive for his murder is still in question but police are searching for at least two gunmen.

Ntseke said his daughter and Radebe were robbed of their cellphones, adding that he had also noticed the attackers opening the boot of the deceased's BMW X6. Police confirmed the robbery and said Radebe had been shot in the head and in the leg.

The MP lived with his wife, Mtikane Radebe, in Kibler Park, south of Johannesburg.

Additional Biographical Information:

Mr Radebe, who was a member of the Portfolio Committee on Transport at the time of his death, first became a Member of Parliament in 2009. Before joining Parliament, he was active in and held leadership positions in a number of youth organisations, including the Mpumalanga Congress of South African Students, the South African Students Congress, the Young Communist League and the Mpumalanga Provincial African National Congress Youth League.
