About Gordon Clifton Albrecht
Gordon Clifton Albrecht – 89 (6/19/22 – 2/15/12) was a long time resident of Pocatello, Idaho, and most recently of Aurora, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his wife Berta, his parents, George and Magdalena, his sisters Marion and Bernice, and his brother Bobby.
He is survived by his stepson Robert Venemon (Katherine), his granddaughters Corrine Frost (David), Camille Venemon; grandson Justin Venemon as well his great grand children Korbi Hyde and Kristine Hyde. Gordon has many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews in Alaska, Utah, California and Colorado.
Gordon was born in 1922 in Bismarck, ND and graduated from St Mary’s High School in Bismarck, ND in 1940. Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1942 where he received anti-submarine warfare training and became an aircraft carrier aviator during WWII, a squadron line coordinating officer, a squadron assistant instruments officer, and an assistant photographic officer. He received the WWII Victory Medal.
After serving in the military Gordon met and married his lovely wife Berta, who was a registered nurse. Gordon and Berta built a life together in Pocatello Idaho where they built and managed a large 54 unit apartment complex for many years.
As most of you know, Gordon was a talented and accomplished carpenter, active in the carpenters union. In 1972 Gordon was appointed as Chapter President of the Pocatello Idaho Credit Union League.
Gordon and Berta took numerous trips over the years to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. Gordon’s love for travel was parallel to his love for playing “Craps” in Jackpot, and visiting his extended families in Colorado and Alaska, where both his sisters and their families live. Gordon was always up for a trip to go fishing in Alaska in particular. Nothing made Gordon happier than being around his family. He stood out in a crowd, usually sporting a Hawaiian shirt (regardless of the occasion or season).
