About Gordon E. Lund
From an obitury in an uncited newspaper obtained from the Camwood Obituary Project: Gordon Edwin Lund, 62, of Stanwood, died Thursday April 19, 1990 in a Mount Vernon hospital following a long fight with leukemia. He was born in East Stanwood, July 30, 1927, to Sevald and Pernille Lund. Gordy was raised and attended school in Stanwood, and later joined the Navy and served in World War II. He owned and operated the Standard Oil Station in East Stanwood for 22 years. Following that he worked for Skagit County for 15 years, retiring in 1987 because of his illness. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 92 of Stanwood, and served as Commander. he was also a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Club. He is survived by Clarette Lund of Mount Vernon; his daughter and son-in-law Pam and Larry Pirkle of Mount Vernon; son Berry Lund of Camano Island; son and daughter-in-law Garry and Joan Lund of Stanwood; granddaughters Heidi Ovenell; grandsons Ryan Pirkle and Brody Lund; step grandchildren Jeremy and Johanna Hendry, Loren, Lance and Lincoln Pirkle and stepchildren Susan and Brian Lankow and Greg Von Moos. Gordy is also survived by one sister, Marion Hendershot; and brothers Selmer, harold (Pug), Art and Gene, all of Stanwood, Oscar of Sedro-Woolle, and Ray of Hawaii; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Palmer Lund and sister Ann Gilbertson. Services were held April 23, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Stanwood, with Pastor Donald Brekhus officiating.
