

Civil War Service entered April 5, 1865 Company E, 52nd Wisconsin Infantry from Mequon, Wisconsin. Mustered out July 28, 1865. The 52nd Infantry organized at Camp Randall in Madison, WI. Sent to St. Louis, MO and Kansas to protect men building railways and "restrain lawless men". Transferred to Ft. Leavenworth, KS in June to be mustered out. Disbanded on August 2, 1864. No battle records found for this tour.
Has brother Henry Otto who enlisted with him at Mequon, WI April 5, 1865 in Company "E", 52nd Infantry and mustered out July 28, 1865.
Also found: Gottlieb Otto of Watertown, WI entered service July 9, 1862, Company "K", 20th Infantry. Wounded at Prairie Grove. Mustered out July 14, 1865 at Galveston, Texas.
