Hold Last Rites Monday For Grace Salen

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert M. (Grace) Salen, 81, of Bedford, were held August 28 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Carl Cummings officiating. Mrs. Salen died August 25 at her home in Bedford. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

Grace Roberts Salen, daughter of William [Marlin] and Mary [Elizabeth] Wright Roberts, was born in Taylor County, Iowa, May 17, 1891.

Her parents lived on a farm southeast of Conway, Iowa, until she was 10 years of age when they moved to Bedford where she attended the public schools, graduating with the class of 1911.

On April 8, 1914, she was united in marriage to Albert M. [arion] Salen and two sons were born to bless this home, Marvin of Bedford and Robert [William] of Denver, Colorado.

They lived on a farm for a number of years, moving to Bedford in 1923 where she has since continued to reside.

Her husband died February 12, 1958.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Ira Roberts and Herman Roberts, and two sisters, who died in infancy.

Left to cherish memories of her good life are the two sons: Marvin and his wife Betty and Robert and his wife Karen; five grandchildren: James, JoAnn, Jeffrey, Katie and Jennifer; other relatives and many friends.

She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church and the 19th Century Club.

She was a kind and loving mother, friend and neighbor and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
