Greis Johansen Auran

According to Lois Marie Wilson in the Swenson-Draegseth family Vol. II 1996, The father of Greis Johanson Nygard Auran (1735-1806) was Halvor Greisson Auran (1709-1738) and Kari/en Jakobsdatter who died in 1741. This information leaves Greis as an orphan at about 6 years old. A number of other sources list the parents of Greis to be Johan Jonsen Fløen and Mali Greisdatter Auran (1705-1782). This Mali Greisdatter Auran was the sister of Halvor Greisson Auran who died in 1738. My assumption is that Halvor and Kari/en were the biological parents of Greis, and that his Aunt Mali and her husband Johan adopted him after his parents died. He apparently went by the name of Johansen from that point forward.
