Gretchen Satchell Date of Passing: December 6, 2010

Gretchen Irene Satchell, "Mimi", "Aunt Gretchen", 95, a resident of Annapolis for 66 years and previously of Bradford, Pa. and New Castle, Pa., died December 6 at Spa Creek Center.

She was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Loch Haven, Pa., to the late Thomas and Bertha Myers, and received her Bachelor of Music degree from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1937. She later taught music in Bradford, Pa. from 1937 to 1943. Over the years, she was the organist at Christian Science Church, Calvary United Methodist Church and College Avenue Baptist Church. She was also employed by Nationwide Insurance from 1961 to 1980.

Gretchen was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Eastport Methodist Church. Her hobbies included music, cooking and baking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Satchell, whom she married in February 1944 and who died in December 1986; son, Allen Thomas, who died in 1956; and brother, Kenneth A. Myers, who died in 1988.

She is survived by her son, Kent Satchell and wife Linda of Annapolis; and one grandson, Charles Alan and wife Mariam.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 9. Interment Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton.
