Gunhild Martinsen Edlund was born on 2 July 1887 in Rogaland, Norway, the daughter of Martin Torgerson Edlund (1839-1913) and Gurine Abrahamsdatter Edlund (1860-1933). She was married to Haldor Severin Jacobson (1877-1961). They immigrated from Norway to Montana, where they raised a family of several sons and daughters. Her husband worked as a rancher. She was widowed in 1961. She died on 11 July 1977 in Havre, MT at the age of 90. She was interred at Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
