After a lovely Gustafson reunion in Aledo, we went to the farm home southwest of Aledo where the Gustafsons raised their family. This was the home that the Grandchildren remember visiting until Gus & Augusta moved away from the farm and went to live in Aledo.
One of the grandsons, Ralph Gustafson, remembered Augusta rolling out the hardtack and drying it on a broom stick fastened above the wood stove. He always made sure that we had hardtack in our home. And, ginger snaps! We knew the hardtack connection to Sweden, but did not know that the ginger snaps were connected as well.
