A very brilliant man who history records as being "Undisputably one of the greatest sovereigns of the 18th century." Besides his many political accomplishments, he was a most distinguished author and was said to have created the Swedish theater, with some of the best acting dramas written by him. His historical essays and letters to his friends comprise some of Sweden's most prized literature. Died as a result of an assassins plot - shot in the back while attending a masquerade ball at the Stockholm operahouse.
