Last rites were held Wednesday afternoon, August 11, at 5 o'clock for G. H. Miller at the home of his son Ed Miller, when a large concourse of friends and relatives gathered to pay respect to the remains of a good christian, an honest and upright citizen.

Rev. C. W. Schleshte, pastor of the Cost Methodist church, conducted the last services in the absence of Mr. Miller's pastor, Rev. Schlechte gave a brief sketch of the clean life that the deceased led, and his message comforted the bereaved ones in their sorrow. Two beautiful hymns were sung, "Rock of Ages" and "Lead kindly Light". His remains were laid in the City cemetery.

Mr. Miller passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Carlile in Waco on Tuesday morning, August 10, at 9:15 o'clock.

The newly made grave was mantled in a wealth of exquisite floral offerings, all testifying to the high esteem in which Mr. Miller was held by all who knew him.

He was born in Bremen, Germany and came to this country to seek his fortune as a young man, first settling at Schulenburg and later moving to Gonzales. G. H. Miller and Elizabeth Hillen were united in marriage. To this union ten children were born, all of whom survive, and are honorable men and women, following in their fathers footsteps. Mrs. Miller preceded her husband in death in the year 1928.

Mr. Miller enjoyed the friendship of all who had the pleasure of knowing him, just and kind to his fellow man, a quiet and simple person, he was a true christian. He untied with the German Methodist church at High Hill, Texas forty years ago. He spent much of his time reading the Bible and could quote the scriptures. He resided in the county for fifty years.

He is survived by six sons and four daughters; Ed Miller, Gonzales; Lewis Miller, Smiley; Henry Miller, McQueeney; Herbert Miller, Houston; M. E. Miller and E. E. Miller of Schulenburg; Mrs. W. F. Warns of McQueeney; Mrs. Alvin Barthels, Yoakum; Mrs. John Caeli;e of Waco and Mrs. Minnie Philpot of Gonzales. He also leaves four grandsons and two granddaughters, Ed and Frank Barthels of Yoakum, Henry Miller of Seguin, Joe Philpot of Gonzales and Misses Eloise Barthels of Yoakum, Thelma Irene Miller of Seguin and two great grandchildren.

Among the out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis of Waco, Mr. and Mrs. John Hilen of Shiner, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hilen of Yoakum.
