Hannah Shipley was born 17 October 1786 in Gilberdike, Yorkshire, England. She was christened in Eastrington. She married Samuel Burton in 1804 in Luddington, England. Her first child Mary was born 1804 but died 1811 age 7. Daughter Jane was born 1806. Samuel the 3rd was born 1807 but died 1809 in Garthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. William was born 1809 in Luddington, England. Elizabeth was born 1811 in Garthorpe, England. Samuel was born 1813 but died 1814 in Garthorpe. Ann was born 29 October 1815 in Hull, Yorkshire, England.
With her husband Samuel, Jane, William, Elizabeth, and Ann they sailed to Quebec, Canada between 1815 and 1818.

Mary Hannah was born in Pultneyville, Wayne County, New York 31 August 1818.
John was born 21 August 1820 in Essex, Ontario, Canada but died 18 October 1820. Robert was born 25 October 1821 in Ameherstburg, Ontario, Canada (this is south of Detroit Michigan). Sarah was born 16 November 1823 in Muncey, Carradoc, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. Rebecca was born 16 February 1826 in Leamington, Essex, Ontario, Canada. Melissa was born 2 March 1828 in Mersea, Essex, Ontario, Canada. Charles was born 4 June 1830 in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan (south west of Detroit).

Jane married John Leybourn in Mersea, Essex, Ontario 1823 and moved to Toledo, Ohio. Elizabeth married Joseph Roop 1829 in Port Lawrence, Ohio. Ann married Waters Shipley 1834 in Monroe, Michigan and lived in Toledo near her older sister Jane Leybourn. Sarah married Elijah Austin 16 March 1843 in Nauvoo, Illinois and in 1850 Census was in Hanno, Lee, Illinois.

Hannah's older sister Mary Shipley died in Mersea, Essex, Ontario in 1837. Mary's husband is Charles Hairsine. Hannah's brother William Shipley died in Pultneyville, New York in 1852.

Hannah joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband and most of her children. They moved to Illinois and was endowed in Nauvoo Temple with her husband and daughter Melissa 24 Dec 1845. They went to Atchison County, Missouri, south of Council Bluffs, Iowa. This area borders the Missouri River and I29.
