Death of Mrs. G. Collingwood lived at Stratford since 1892. Mrs. Hannah Collingwood, who landed at New Plymouth 50 years ago and lived 38 years in Stratford, died at her daughter’s residence, Midhirst, on November 24. She was 84 years old. Her husband, Mr. George Collingwood, died 16 years ago. Mrs. Collingwood came to New Zealand from Britain in 16 weeks aboard the Coroline, a ship that figured largely in early Taranaki history. The passengers landed in the surf where the New Plymouth railway station now stands. Thirty-eight years ago the Collingwoods settled on the Opunake Road Stratford, where they farmed successfully for 20 years. In 1912 the family moved in to Stratford. Six children survive Mrs. Collingwood. They are Messrs. George and Harry (Stratford) and Charles (Fordell), Mrs. M. Phillips (Midhirst), Mrs. D. T. Wilson and Mrs. W. Croot (Stratford). There are 17 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
