Hannah Cooper Haas

Davis, Ill., Aug. 18. — Hannah Cooper, daughter of William L. and Elizabeth Cooper was born in Crawford county, Illinois, on Oct. 23rd, 1832 and died on Aug. 10th, 1925 in Spring Grove township in Wisconsin at the age of ninety-three years lacking three months.

As a young girl she moved to Rock Grove township with her parents in 1841 and in April 1857 was married to Valentine Haas, who proceeded her in death in November 1911, since which time she has resided in the family home.

Mr. and Mrs. Haas were parents of twelve children, all of whom survive They are: George Haas, living at the old home in Spring Grove township, Wisconsin. Mrs. Florence Shaffer and Luther L. Haas, of Rock Grove, Emanuel and Lloyd L. Haas of Laona, Ill., Edward I., Mrs. Bell Spangler, W. H. Haas, Clarence A. and Omar H. Haas all of Beloit, Mrs. Carrie A. Neisman of Freeport and Mrs. Barbara Clark of Ridott.

Besides her immediate family, she is mourned by forty-four grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was borne to her last resting place in the State line cemetery by six sons, and services were conducted by Rev. Jacob Zimmerman of Brodhead, Wis., on Thursday, Aug. 13th.

A Remembrance of Mother

Yes, mother's akin to the fragrance of flowers. That shed sweet perfume in mossy grown bowers. And the thorns of her life are her crosses of gold, That beareth no sting when life's petals unfold.

A mother lies sleeping beneath the green sod, As roses are blooming, as sweet flowers nod, Her tenderness lingers through life's dreary hours, And the lessons she taught are the sweetest of flowers.

The crickets will chirp at the end of the day, The storms of April will give way to May, The sun and the showers will open ...
