Thomas Olmsted settled in the west division of Hartford, and was one of the first members of the West Hartford Church, which was formed in 1712 as the 2d church in Hartford.
Most references show that Hannah Mix Olmstead died around 1698; however, her last child Jerusha was born in 1706 (verified thru Conneticut Birth Records prior to 1850), therefore, her death must be 1706 or later! There is no available record on her date of death or burial...research continues!
Thomas married Hannah Mix on June 26, 1691 in Hartford. She was born June 30, 1666 to Thomas Mix and Rebecca Turner (married in 1648 in Boston, Massachusets). Rebecca Turner was the daughter of Nathaniel Turner (born 1631 in Boston).
They had the following children in Hartford:
- Thomas - born August 10, 1692; died August 18, 1759
- Stephen - born January 1, 1694
- Sarah - born January 1, 1696
- Rebecca - born October 10, 1697; died October 5, 1762
- Damaris - born May 28, 1699
- Daniel - born September 28 1701; died November 30, 1781
- Hannah - born January 26, 1704; died October 4, 1762
- Jerusha - born March 28, 1706
Thomas and the family settled in the west division of Hartford across the Connecticut river sometime after 1700. Thomas was one of the first members of the West Hartford church which was founded in 1712 as the second church in Hartford.
Thomas died sometime before May 28, 1741.
