About Hannah Vaughan
Hannah Hewes of Chichester, Chester County, Pennsylvania, was said to be a daughter of William Hewes and Mary Withers.
Her father William Hewes 'the elder' died intestate around 1746. A petition of 1746/1747 referred to the heirs of William Hewes one of which was his daughter Hannah Hewes.
In the will of her mother "Mary Hewes of Chichester widdow & Relict of Wm Hewes late of ye same place deceased" dated 29 day of 4th mo 1748, she made a number of bequests to her daughter Hannah Hewes.
A number of the heirs of William Hewes 'the elder' were also recorded in a document of 1755 as follows: Caleb Hewes of Chester County, feltmaker, John Hewes of Chester County, executor of the will of Isaac Hewes, late of Chester County, yeoman, dec., William Vaughan, shipwright, & Hannah his wife, Samuel Grubb of the County of New Castle, yeoman, & Rebecca his wife, William Grubb of New Castle County, yeoman & Lydia his wife, Nathaniel Falkener of Chester County, mariner, & Sarah his wife, which Caleb, Isaac, Hannah, Rebecca, Lydia & Sarah were the children & grandchild of William Hewes late of Chichester, mason, dec. William Hewes at the time of his death had been seized in certain tracts of land & died intestate, leaving issue 8 children & 1 grandchild to survive him. William Hewes, the eldest son & heir at law [who was deceased by 1755] had paid the younger children their share of the value of the land.
