He was undoubtedly born around 1650 and probably named for his paternal grandfather. Written sources (Melchior Augustinii Huscancelli) tells that 1672 on the 6th of November he was appointed to be perpetual curate of Fosnaes Parish in the Nam valley in northern Norway. Obviously he died around 1692. He was married in 1675 on St. Micheals day to Riise Randulff (notice that this name is repeated several times later in the family). She was daughter of the bailiff Jens Randulff
