About Harald Olafsson, King of Man and the Isles

Harald ascended the throne at age 14 and refused to acknowledge King Haakon IV of Norway, who threatened to dethrone him. He had a change of heart, then spending 2 years at Haakon's court. When he returned to Man in 1241, King Henry III, who also needed his allegiance, knighted him. King Haakon demanded his return to court and when he arrived in 1247, he was offerred the hand of Haakon's daughter, Christina. Unfortunately, both drowned off the coast of Orkney upon their return in Oct or Nov 1248.
