

Harold Edward Langenbeck, son of William Edward Langenbeck (1857 - 1890) and Eliza Cord (1867 - 1928) was born 29 December 1886 at on the Langenbeck homestead at Bee Rock, San Luis Obispo County, California. He married Ida Mae Forbes Langenbeck (1890 - 1978) on 26 April 1911 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California; they had one daughter. He registered for the WWI draft on 5 June 1917 but received a deferment because he was the sole support of his wife and child. Harold worked as a farmer in San Luis Obispo, as a pumper in the Taft oilfields and in Long Beach Harbor, and as a carpenter. He and his family were enumerated twice in the 1920 U.S. Federal Census; in January they were living in a rented house, but by the end of February they were living with his father's familyl again. In the 1940 Census, with the country still firmly in the grip of the Great Depression, Harold reported having worked only four weeks during the previous year.
Harold Langenbeck died at the age of 57 on 14 July 1943 at Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, and is buried at San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, Los Angeles County, California, United States.
