Father was a Swiss Clock Maker in Mayfair, London of Swiss Nationality who took the name Wilson in 1801. Her parents had 15 children.

Lovers included:

  • Prince of Wales later George IV (promised her £20,000 and did not pay)
  • Lord Chancellor
  • Four future Prime Ministers of England (including Charles James Fox, Palmerston, Wellington)
  • Settled down with [George William Campbell, 6th Duke of Argyll] for a time, until he left to live in Scotland. Known as the Marquis of Lorne before he became Duke, he later moved on to her sister Amy, who bore him a son
  • Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington
  • Deeply loved Lord John Ponsonby but he became intrigued by her 14 year old sister Sophia
  • She underwent a non-legally-binding Fleet prison marriage to Rochfort who was living under the prison rules for debt at the time. The couple later separated.
