Harrison Byrne was born Jul. 3, 1833, in Preston County, Virginia. He was the son of Samuel Byrne and wife Juana Hagans. He married Isabelle Wilson (1840-1904). Harrison and Isabell had ten children. Harrison was a Lieutenant in the Missouri Regiment in the Civil War. Family lore says that his Company was down in the swamps of Arkansas, and that he had charge of the company and that they got ambushed in the swamps. He was wounded, shot across the back. He moved once to Texas and was there for some years raising cattle in Texas. Then he came back to Missouri. He moved to Buffalo Gap, South Dakota, was there several years and then back to Memphis, Missouri. He had a contract for grading the railroad through the Indian Territory in 1884 and 1885.
