BRISTOL, Va. Harry Harold Bailey, age 85, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a charter member of NorthStar Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. While in Korea he was a member of General Douglas MacArthur's Honor Guard. He was vice-president of Branson Body Works retiring in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Norris Bailey; his first wife, Mildred Branson Bailey; son, Mike Bailey and granddaughter, Lindsey Harmon. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Rita Leonard Bailey; one daughter, Bobbie Harmon of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one son, Gary R. Bailey and wife, Polly of Bluffton, S.C.; four grandchildren Tamara Harmon, Michael Harmon, Josh Bailey and Stephanie Bailey; and two great-grand children. In addition he is survived by two step-daughters, Beverly Tye and husband, Paul of Texarkana, Texas, Karen Witcher and husband, Tom of Bristol, Tenn.; one step-son, Bobby Leonard and wife, Donna of Spring, Texas; one sister, Katie Henderson, of Erwin, Tenn.; two brothers, Cecil Bailey of Erwin, and Earl Bailey of Nacogdoches, Texas; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Bill Houck and Dr. Gray Keller officiating. Pallbearers will be Bud Bolling, Ralph Branson, Michael Harmon, Reid Witcher, Tom Witcher and Tom Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will include Clarence Witcher, Bill Malcolm, Earl Bailey and Tom Barker. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Akard Funeral Home.
