Harry Cecil Clay (Bill) Bailey, 54, died unexpectedly at his home, Logan, W. Va., at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. He was born March 7, 1909, in Gatewood, W. Va., a son of the Mrs. Mintie Toms Mitchell and the late Harry Gordon Bailey. He was a member of the Nighbret Memorial Methodist Church in Logan. He was formerly with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and had been retired for the past nine years after serving in World War II. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mintie Toms Mitchell of Waynesboro; his wife, Mrs. Virginia York Bailey of Logan; one sister, Mrs. Earle (Racy) M. Dolly of Arlington and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held in the Memorial Chapel of McDow-Tyree Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. David R. Holt and the Rev. William M. Clark Jr. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Donovan M. Hall, Homer F. Tomes Jr., Grover W. Tomes, Kirkland Bailey, John M. Hodges, W. F. Thornton Jr. and Fred H. Hassett. Honorary pallbearers will be George L. Bailey, Elmer Bailey, H. W. Roberts, H. O. Webb, Everett Johns, R. H. Rigdon, Carson Broyles, L. S. McDowell, Dr. B. K. Weems, Mickey Bailey, Richard M. Ferguson, Howell Carter, Ray Barnes, Thomas A. Fitzgerald, Mike S. Keenan, Harold Morris, Harold Guyton, H. G. Hassett, T. C. Whitaker, Earl Zimmerman, R. H. Arey, Judge C. C. Chambers, Dorin Hinchman and J. Harry Patterson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today.
