About Harry Merle Johnson, Jr
Harry M. Johnson Jr., 69, of 735 S. Locust St., died unexpectedly at his home on June 7, 2001.
Harry was the youngest of four sons born to Harry M. Johnson Sr. and Elva Luella Mott. He was born July 2, 1931. He married Cleta Laverne Burton on Jan. 26, 1951, at Pontiac. She died Oct. 15, 1996.
Two brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Richard, a daughter, Vicki Hetman (Walter), and a son, Greg, Pontiac, five grandchildren, Natasha Hetman, Ohio, Sonia Wernsman (Eric), Bloomington, Kathryn and Alyssa Johnson, Pontiac and Andrei Hetman, Chenoa. Additionally, he has four great grandchildren, Amber, Genevieve, Hannah and Clayton.
Mr. Johnson was educated in Pontiac schools and graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1949. He was employed at Johnson Press for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He worked painfully long, hard hours for his employer and had little time for rest or hobbies.
Harry or "Junior" as he was called, was at home with his parents while his three older brothers served in World War II. He had a pet dog named Midge, loved flying model airplanes, and riding motorcycles. In 1950 he met his future wife, Cleta, and they were married soon after.
He was much loved and left this world too soon.
