Harry Witter

Entry in The Teesdale Mercury, 3rd July 1895:

All old friends and acquaintance! of the late Mr John Witter—an account of whose death you will doubtless publish— will be glad to learn that his second son, Harry, has just finished two years' training at the Newcastle College of Science, and passed the examination for associate in science; and that the Jarrow School Board appointed him on Monday last as certified assistant in their Higher Grade School.

Mr Charles Witter, his third son, received word on the same day that he had gained the Junior Pemberton Scholarship of £30 for one year, after one year's training. Last September he gained an exhibition of £10 at the same place, which holds good another year. This goes to show that the esteemed Mr Witter's children have inherited tbeir father's talent, and are doing their best to follow in his footsteps.
