About Harvey Alvaro Dunn, Jr.

Found this record written by the grandson of Harvey Alvero Dunn, Jr., Larry West Dunn, on this website:

I, Larry West Dunn, grandson of Harvey Alvero Dunn Jr, would like to enter into this record the story that my father, James Rowel Dunn, told me about the marriage of his father to the only mother that he knew.

In the early 1900's Harvey Alvero Dunn took his family from Georgetown, Bear Lake, Idaho, and moved to Mountain View, Alberta, Canada, to be near his wife's parents, her name being Katherine Elizabeth West. While there, Katherine gave birth to two more children, the last one being my father (James Dunn) born the August 20, 1909. She never recovered from that birth and passed away on September 9, 1909.

President Wood of the Alberta Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called my grandfather in to visit with him and gave him this counsel. He told him about a recent convert arriving from England and that he should go and marry her. It is interesting to note that they had not met, but were willing to follow the advice of their stake president -- their faith was great. That convert was Louisa Elizabeth Mary Wright.

They were married June 30, 191,0 and on October 16,1912, they traveled to Salt Lake City, where she received her endowments at the Salt Lake Temple and was sealed to her husband. They returned to Canada and a few years later moved back to Bear Lake County, Idaho, to be near his parents. They lived in Paris and Bennington but more of their time was spent living on the "flats" near Georgetown. She died of cancer November 20, 1937.

My father (James Dunn) spoke of her with much love and had high praise for her blood pudding. It is also interesting to note that when he did speak of her it was with a very proper English accent.

Harvey Alvero Dunn was baptized by Peter Greenhalgh July 1877 and confirmed by Christiansen Madison July 1877. He was ordained an Elder by Henry A. Lewis 5 June 1892.--Written by Larry West Dunn.

NOTE: I wonder if Larry meant that Harvey Alvero Dunn, Jr., was confirmed by Christian Madsen, who was my second great grandfather. Christian lived in the Bloomington, Bear Lake County, Idaho, area from 1863 to 1883 and was married to Roxanna Louisa Welker, who was related to Harvey Alvero Dunn, Sr., and his wife Hettie Esther Welker Dunn. Hettie Esther Welker Dunn was the daughter of James Wilburn Welker and Annie Pugh Welker, and James Wilburn Welker was the brother of John Welker. John Welker was Roxanna Louisa Welker's father. Peter Greenhalgh was also connected to the Madsen and Welker families by marriage. Peter's wife was Rebecca Ann Welker, who was also a daughter of James Wilburn Welker and a sister of Hettie ESther Welker Dunn.
