About Hazel Narine Shank

MT. SOLON - Mrs. Hazel Knott Shank, 60, of Mt. Solon died Wednesday night, February 12, 1975, at her home following an illness of several years.

Mrs. Shank was born July 20, 1914 in Mt. Solon and was a daughter of Mrs. Cleo Huffer Knott of Mt. Solon and the late Grover Cleveland Knott.

She lived her whole life in Mt. Solon. She was a member of the Briery Branch Church of the Brethren, but attended the Stokesville Community Church.

She worked 27 years in the sewing department of Western State Hospital.

On Dec. 25, 1933 she married John Edmen Shank, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, are two daughters, Mrs. Rosaline Ervine of Mt. Solon and Mrs. Frances Ervine of Staunton; four sons, James Cloy, Albert Wayne E. and Paul T. Shank, all of Mt. Solon; five sisters, Mrs. Catherine Sheffer, Mrs. Lola Morrison and Mrs. Ruth King, all of Mt. Solon, Mrs. Genevieve Neighbors of Baltimore and Mrs. Zelda Mae Arviola of Norfolk; eight brothers, Webb Knott of Harrisonburg, Thomas Knott of Churchville and Clinton, Richard, Weldon. Boyd, Fillmore and Ben Knott, all of Mt. Solon; 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mount Olivet United Brethren Church by the Rev. Ray Taylor and the Rev. Raymond Brant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at the W. L. Rosenberger Funeral Home in Bridgewater.
