Hebe Louise Reynolds Milburn was called home to the Lord on February 26, 2015 at the age of 98. Born on November 21, 1916 in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was a spirited participant in the United States military community for nearly a century. As the daughter of the late Major General Charles Ransom Reynolds and Jane Hurd Reynolds, she procured acknowledgement as an expert horsewoman at the age of thirteen while living at Carlisle Army Barracks in Pennsylvania. She went on to become an accomplished equestrian in adulthood, riding in horse shows and pageants, and taught horseback riding classes at St. Francis Riding Academy in San Francisco, CA in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

As a young adolescent, while visiting her aunt, she also enjoyed spending summers at the home of Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. She graduated from the prestigious Spence School in New York City in 1935. She became an esteemed volunteer of the American Red Cross as she courageously presented President Franklin Delano Roosevelt the membership card for the enrollment in the annual Red Cross membership drive in October 1936.

She married the late Major General Conn Lewis Milburn, Jr., Commander of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, in 1939.

She has been a resident of San Antonio for the past forty-four years. She was an elected member of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Connecticut by right of her ancestor Governor William Leete. She had been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church on Alamo St., was an active member of the Military-Civilian Club and honorary president of the Brooke Army Medical Center Women's Club while her husband was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. She was also a member of the Laurel Heights Garden Club. She did humanitarian work by sewing clothing for Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in San Antonio. Her principle concern was cultivating a nurturing home environment for her four children, Jane, Conn, Marilyn, and Charles. As a talented homemaker, she became a gifted cook, and a knowledgeable gardener. A prolific painter, mostly oil paintings of nature and portraits, Hebe studied at the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington D.C. and continued her art work at the McNay Art Institute.

She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Ransom Reynolds, Jr. and three of her children: Marilyn Abbott Milburn, Conn Lewis Milburn III, and Jane Milburn Reid, all residents of San Antonio.

She is survived by her son, Charles Reynolds Milburn of San Antonio and many nephews and nieces; four grandchildren: Stephen D. Milburn of San Antonio, Timothy C. Milburn and his wife Pamela of Houston, TX, Clarissa Reid Owen and her husband Andrew of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly C. Milburn Barajas and her husband Antonio of El Paso, TX and seven great-grandchildren.
