About Helen Arledge
Subject: "Helen F.," wife of Richard Fair 'Deacon' Arledge in your data at Geni.com Date: Thu, 23 Dec 2010 09:37:30 -0500 From: Jay Wright <firstname.lastname@example.org>
In your data at Geni.com, you list Richard Fair 'Deacon' Arledge and his wife, "Helen F."
I have a little more info on her.
At http://www.arledgefamilyhistory.org/mcduffie.html there is a reference to the fact that Helen died "in '70s," but that's not correct.
Helen lived until 1990. Also, if the findagrave.com listing is correct, her own rank in the Army was PFC. You have her listed as "served in U.S. Army as Wagoneer (Colonel)," but possibly somebody confused her husband's rank with her own? I'm puzzled by the ranks anyway because of the usual military rules about officers' fraternizing with enlisted personnel. I suppose she might have been his driver during the war?
Helen's maiden name was Floyd. I'd be interested in learning about their daughter if we could piece that together. I haven't seen an obit for either Richard/"Deacon" or for Helen.
Below I'm pasting a pedigree chart for Helen. My own interest is through the McKown family. BTW, you and I have more in common than just genealogy. I'm a long-time professor of communications law at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. -- Jay Wright
