Helen E. Decker

Helen Ellsworth was born December 3, 1909, in Chicago, Illinois. She married Jesse Smith Decker, September 1, 1933, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, David O. McKay officiating. Helen received the A.B. degree from Brigham Young University in 1933. She taught school in La Jara, Colorado. She served two years as a missionary for the LDS church in the Northern States Mission. She was a teacher in the Colorado Public Schools for two years. She taught in the Church Seminary in 1937 and in 1938, at Mesa, Arizona. She served in various church positions including music director, and as teacher of organ and piano. She served in the Presidency of the Maricopa Stake Relief Society and on the Mesa Stake Sunday School and Relief Society Boards.

Jesse received the B.S. degree from BYU in 9132 and the M.S. degree from Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa, in 1939. He served as a missionary for the LDS church in North Carlifornia. He has served as Stake Superintendent of Sunday School and High Councilman of the Mesa Stake. He was a professor in the Phoenix College at Phoenix, Arizona. Jesse was the son of Louis Addison Decker and Mae Hatch.

Helen and Jesse had the following children: Mary Rachel Decker, born March 8, 1935; Helen Jean, born January 10, 1937; Carolyn Mae Decker, born November 12, 1940; Barbara Lucelle, born May 25, 1943; Shirley Blanche, born October 1, 1947; Janice Elaine Decker, born October 20, 1951; and Don Ellsworth Decker born February 3, 1954.
