From Muthill Old Church and Tower

The church at Muthill was a high-status building in the 1100s, perhaps standing in as a substitute cathedral for Dunblane. ...

Several important medieval memorials survive at Muthill. These are now in the ground floor of the tower to protect them from erosion and damage, and are not accessible to visitors. Among them is an eroded double effigy, thought to be of Sir Maurice Drummond of Kincraig, who died in 1362, and his wife Ada.

Also preserved is a 1100s or 1200s cross-incised slab known as the McRobbie slab. This was once located in recess on the west side of the tower.

From "Letter, Tuesday, 7 July 1953, from Henry Pearson to Heather Thomson Page 1"

The original Helen was still-room maid to the Willoughby D'Eresby's at Drummond Castle, Muthill, Perthshire PH7 4HN 56.3407722, -3.8695083, and married Louis Ferguson, who was a tailor,... BUT NOTE: Willoughby D'Eresby's were not in Drummond until 1807

NOTE: Peter Drummond-Burrell, 22nd Baron Willoughby de Eresby (1782 – 1865) In 1807, he married Sarah Clementina Drummond (1786–1865), daughter of James Drummond, 11th Earl of Perth, and Clementina Elphinstone (a daughter of Charles Elphinstone, 10th Lord Elphinstone).

From James Drummond, 1st Baron Perth (1744 – 1800);

Upon his father's death in 1781, James succeeded to his father's claim to the earldom of Perth (his elder brother Thomas, who moved to America, had died the previous November), but did not use the title. In 1784, an Act was passed allowing the Crown to grant to the heirs-male the estates that had been forfeited in 1745, and in 1785 the Court of Session declared that he was the person entitled to the Drummond estates (including Drummond Castle), which he was duly granted.
