Helen was born July 4, 1919, at Cottonwood to Jacob and Susan Lies Lorentz. She attended school at Cottonwood and later went to beauty school in Lewiston and worked as a beautician out of her home.
She married William A. Gentry at Cottonwood on Sept. 4, 1939, and they lived at Asotin and Lewiston before moving to Orofino in 1957.
She started working at State Hospital North in Orofino in 1958 and retired as the supervisor of the housekeeping department in 1984.
She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orofino and the Legion of Mary, and she was an honorary member of Catholic Daughters.
She liked to crochet, play cards and pick huckleberries. She had traveled extensively and enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 7, 1990; one son, Ronald Gentry; and two brothers and one sister.
