A letter from G. Baker (George) to (his wife's nephew) Captain (later Admiral) George Hills attests to the death of Harriet as follows:

Clare Priory, April 21st (no year given)

"My Dear Captain.

It is with much pain that I have to communicate the death of my poor dear Sister Harriet**Jenkinson who as I find by a Letter from Norbiton this morning was taken from us on Monday ,,,,, ***The state of her health for some time past had been such as to cause us great anxiety and during the whole of last week there appears to have been little hope of her rallying. 

Robert ***Jenkinson particularly requests me to make known this event to you, but the state of his own health and nerves is such as not only to make writing an irksome effort, but it would even be painful to him to receive letters on the subject. I collect this from my Mother's report, and therefore do not write to him myself, and it would I think be kind in you to abstain from doing so.
