Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Henley-74

Henrietta is commonly said to have been a Henley, but so far there is no documentation regarding her early life. From the ages of her children she was apparently married some time between 1725 and 1735. Descendants of Samuel, the eldest, give him a birthdate of 1737.

Her husband left a very odd Will for its time. Aside from a bequest to his brother and tokens to the children, Richard Henderson left everything to Henrietta, therefore leaving it to her to provide for her future and the future of the 5 children. The farm she secured for the sons by a gift deed, witnessed by her husband's brothers Edward and Nathaniel, who had perhaps also provided counsel. She still somehow had to dower the daughters.

She then married a neighbor, Clayton Cook(e), by whom there is said to have been issue. Clayton and Henrietta then sold the farm to another neighbor, Charles Lee who also bought land from Nathaniel and Edward. As Henrietta's sons reached 21 they returned to sign off and receive their portion from the sale. Family tradition says that her children accompanied the family of Nathaniel Henderson when he moved to Granville co NC. Henrietta seems to have started over. She and Clayton moved to Buckingham Co.
