About Henry Aldridge, uncertain parentage

From Pam Wilson's research notes <wilsonpam@mindspring.com>:

prob born in Randolph CO, NC and lived in Pendleton District SC in 1814, if son of Henry Aldridge/Eldridge/Arledge as linked.

Is this the same Henry who shows up in Georgia? If so, he would be the third-generation Henry--the grandson of Henry Arledge and Sarah Garner, the son of Henry Aldridge/Eldridge/Arledge who was in Pendleton District, SC in 1814.

It would be helpful to have a descendant of the Campbell County GA Aldridges do a yDNA test to see if he matches with the other Arledge DNA group, which has a strong match.

The Georgia Henry (born in NC), seems to have had 4 sons and two daughters; however, he only named 2 sons and two daughters in his will, leaving out James and Ephraim.

Georgia Wills and Probates (on Ancestry.com), Campbell County Wills, Book B, pp. 55-56 dated 1 May 1860, will of Henry Aldridge names wife Rebecca (leaves her his sole estate consisting of lots 100 and 101 in 14th District of what was originally Fayette, now Campbell).

  • at death of wife, leaves lot #100 to his daughters Sarah and Catharine Aldridge, lot #101 to his two sons Stephen J. and John B. Aldridge
  • names friend John A. Parker and son Stephen J. Aldridge as Executors

Will is re-entered on p. 63, then p. 64 it is proven: dated March Term 1871 (6 March) It's not clear exactly which of these records are about his father and which about this 3rd Henry, but we might assume that Henry II was born in the 1770s and that Henry III was born between 1790-1805, based on census records. So the 1814 record most likely refers to Henry II.

This Henry died in Campbell County, Georgia, bef. 6 March 1871.
