"HENRY ALSPAUGH (ALSPACH)

Henry Alspaugh was born in Germany, sometime around 1750. He married in the year 1780, to Elizabeth _______ also of German descent. The year 1781 was a very prosperous year for them. Their first child was born and they named her Barbara. Soon after her birth, the family came to America. They purchased land in two places; 55 acres in Bethlehem Twp., Washington County, Pa., where they lived for a short time. They also purchased land in Smith Twp. in the same county, this contained 250 acres of uninhabited land. This land in Smith Twp., now known as Greene Twp, Beaver Co., PA is where they built their homestead - February 14,1786 - May 13,1789, patented, Virginia Certificate.

Two daughters, names unknown, were born ca.1786 and ca.1790. In 1800, when the census was taken, the family of Henry, Elizabeth, and their three daughters were living and farming their land, which they called "Siena Morena". Sad times came sometime before 1808. The father,.mother, and two daughters died and left Barbara sole heir to the land and homestead in Greene Twp.. Barbara had married, and was now the wife of William Brunton.
