About Henry Boucher

Notes for Henry Boucher:Taken from "The Boucher Family Book"

"Henry, a son of Henry, was born in Berks County, Pa., and was one of the family of his father that moved to Somerset County in 1801. Here were spent the long and earnest lives of Henry and Elizabeth. They reared a large family and their descendants are found in many states. They constitute a numerous and representative people. Their activity is manifest in religious, professional, social and business life. Henry and Elizabeth were devout Christians and were members of the Christian Church. From their home emanated sweet influences and pleasant memories that carried to descending generations. Their oldest sons moved to Illinois in 1839 and the parents made some three journeys to the far distant homes of their children. The difficulty and significance of such a trip can best be appreciated when it is understood that they walked one hundred miles to the nearest railway station, which was Brownsville, and on their return would travel the same distance on foot."
