Henry Joseph (Joe) Bustin, Jr., 57, of Laurel, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS,.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Friday, December 6, at First Baptist Church of Laurel at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Randy Turner and Bro. Shannon Slover officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 noon at the church. The service will be followed at the gravesite at Indian Springs Baptist Cemetery.

His life began on July 16, 1956, in Laurel as the only child of Henry Joseph Bustin, Sr., and Roberta Kay Houston Bustin. He grew up in the Shady Grove community, graduating from West Jones High School and Jones County Junior College before earning a landscape contracting degree from Mississippi State University. He married the love of his life, Janice Kaye (Jan) Ellzey, on June 6, 1980, at Indian Springs Baptist Church. In 1987, they were blessed with a daughter, Caroline Kay, and established their home Shady Grove community.

Joe was a wonderful husband, father, outdoorsman, and friend. He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Laurel. His greatest ministry was through his business of 18 years, Bustin Landscape Construction; God used him through this opportunity to impact others as a friend and mentor. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched and the physical beauty he helped to create.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Bustin; grandmother and grandfather, Iona and Max Houston; grandmother and grandfather, Troy and Grady Bustin.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Jan Bustin, and his daughter, Caroline; father, Henry J. Bustin, Sr.; precious in-laws, Jim and Marion Ellzey; sister-in-law Brenda Smith; niece, Danielle Rothley (Brian); nephew, Spenser Nations; and grand-nephew, Brantley Rothley.

His family would like to thank the kind nurses, doctors, and staff of Hattiesburg Clinic, Wesley Medical Center, and Forrest General Hospital for their care and support during Joe's long battle with cancer.

Memory Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mike Baughman, Steve McLaurin, Stan Burton, Adam Jones, Joey Ulmer, Herschel Sharp, and Ronald Bustin.
