- 1841 Census - Daniel Dearing (weaver), Charlotte, Henry 13 and John 5. No mention of the sons Daniel or William.
- Henry's father had died in 1845 and the newspaper article stated he was upset that his son was to be transported without him being allowed to see him. Which son was it? Henry? Daniel? William or John.
- 1849 Henry was married in Melbourne, Australia to Ellen Hogg, but when did he arrive in Australia after 1841 census and before the birth of Charlotte in 1850.
- 1852 - 14/01/1852 Champion, brig, 220 tons, Captain Wiley, for Melbourne, in ballast: Passengers Henry Dearing, wife and child.
- 1863 - According to death certificate, Henry had been living in NZ for 33 years at time of death. Can't find arrival, but it would have to be between birth of last child in Melbourne and Ellen in NZ which is between 1858 - 1870.
