Henry Foley was married to Anne Courtney 24 December 1738. She had Bartholomew and Luke foley in 1740 (probably twins and she probably died during child birth. He then married Amy Coffee in 1741 and had six (6) children Urzilla, Richard, Elizabeth, Henry, John, and Hannah Foley. Bartholomew and Luke showed up in what is now Patrick County, Virginia.

A Henry Foley is found on the roll of Captain Joseph Bowman for his service as a militia member during Dunmore's War. He is also said to be among the 1783 "List of Petitioners to Commander of Militia by Residents of Upper Settlement of Clinch River for Protection Against Savages". This was a writ signed by the frontiersman who lived on the Clinch stating it was too dangerous due to hostile natives to leave their families to fight the British.
