Henry met Jane Nelson when she visited her sister (Peggy Harrer). He was apprenticed to Mr. Harrer as a cabinet maker.

"Henry Jr. was making haste to get home to claim his Jincy. They were married October 3, 1823, and made a home with her parents, the Nelsons." From Rebecca Jane's journal

He moved from Grassy Lick, KY to IN in 1828. His fourth child was born in IN. Henry Foster, Jr. of Montgomery Co., KY appears in Monroe Township, Putnam Co., IN in 1828.

Land Patent issued to Henry Foster (Jr.) of Putnam Co., IN on 2 Dec 1830 (Crawfordsville Cash Entry #10866, Vol 23, p 91). Land now lies in Monroe Township, Putnam Co., IN. East 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Section 5, Township 15 North, Range 4 West, containing 80 acres. Signed by Andrew Jackson.

1810 - Montgomery Co., KY. Foster, Henry - One each adult Male and Female, born between 1765 and 1784. Two male children born between 1794 and 1800. One each male and female children born between 1800 and 1810.

NOTE - In 1810 the eldest child, Margaret, was already married and living with her husband, Asa Caywood. Henry, Jr. was 12 yrs. old.

BIOGRAPHY: "Henry Jr. after learning his trade went in a cabinet shop in Lexington, Kentucky, and was there several years, and then took a wild notion to travel in the west and look for a location on which to settle. He went on foot as there was no public conveyance. He passed through St. Louis, which then was a little French town, and from there he went to the flat country, which now is southern Missouri and Kansas. He got very tired of his wanderings. He could not hear from his family nor they from him. There was no mail carried west. Everything had to go down the Mississippi River. His mother and friends became very uneasy about him and feared he was dead, perhaps killed by the Indians." From Rebecca Jane's journal.
