Henry Hautaperä

Accident No. 33. — September 21) th Henry Hauta- pera, a Finnish carpenter at the Calumet & Hecla Mine, was almost instantly killed by accidentally falling from a scaffold. Deceased was working in No. 4 shaft house and had gone up to move some scaffolding. When there a short time by some means he lost his balance and fell a distance of about twenty feet, striking his head on the rail in the shaft, fracturing the base of the skull. No one knows the cause of his falling as he was alone at the time and as there was no evidence further than the mere fact of his having fell, no inquest was held. He was im mediately taken to the Mine hospital, where he died, a few minutes afterwards.I
