Henry received his schooling at home but by 1861 had left home possibly for Australia first, then New Zealand.
He arrived in New Zealand on the ship 'Light Brigade' and joined his oldest brother Richard in Hamilton, where he also enrolled as a private (# 540 substitute for G Hart) with the 4th Waikato Militia on 18 December 1865.
He is described as being a mariner, 5' 6" with brown hair, grey eyes; Protestant.
He received Town Land lot 250 and Country Land lot 35 at Rukukia. The country land (Brookfields) was contiguous with his brothers' land and many of the lots were in Henry's name. When the land was sold most of the proceeds was invested in Henry's name.
Nothing definite is known about Henry after this time, but there is a suggestion that he returned to England.
