Henry was baptized by the Rev. O. Klatt at South St. John's (now Grace) Lutheran Church, rural Ohiowa and March 31, 1907. He was confirmed at the church on May 23, 1920 by the Rev. G. Klatt, and was a life-long member of the congregation.
He grew up in the Ohiowa community, attending school at Rural District 10 southeast of Ohiowa.
He did some farming around Ohiowa, and owned an automotive garage in town.
During World War II, he worked at Bruning Air Base as a mechanic, and after the war, he worked for Al Rosener as a farm implement mechanic.
In March of 1945, he moved to a farm south of Daykin, living there until his retirement from farming in 1973, at which time he moved to Plymouth.
Henry was married to Irene Fern Waterman of Ohiowa on April 22, 1930, and to them two children were born. They enjoyed the blessings and joy of life together for 46 years, until Fern's death in 1976.
On October 7, 1977, he married Dora Nystrom Gaston of rural Daykin. They enjoyed their golden years with each other.
Gardening was a joy to Henry, especially the time when his strawberries would ripen.
He enjoyed working around the house and in his shop, bringing into reality the many projects of his imagination. He and Dora enjoyed sharing the hospitality of their home with all who visited them.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents' brother, Christ; twin brother, Fred; a brother who died in infancy; and sisters, Minnie and Lena.
He is survived by his wife, Dora; son, Irving and wife, Ila, of Aurora; daughter, Gloria and husband Wilferd Deke, of Beatrice; stepson, Raymond Gaston of Fairbury; and by five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from Grace Lutheran Church, rural Ohiowa, with the Rev. Bill Triebe officiating.
