About Hezekiah Reeve, Sr
He was a freeholder of Suffolk County in 1737, and a fence viewer in Southold in 1749. Hezekiah's will dated January 28, 1761 was proved in Suffolk County on February 28, 1770 and recorded in NewYork.
"By the will, Hezekiah's wife was to receive l/3rd of his land, sons Manassah, Jonathan, William, Jesse &Silas were ”to be paid 5 shillings each, daughters Mary&Jerusha were given Hezekiah's "dwelling house and Neck of Land where I now live" and other property - son "Purriah" (Purrier) was given land at the New Road, meadows at Saw Mill Brook and woodland..."
The wife and son Purrier were appointed Executors. At least four of the five sons who received money bequests removed to NewJersey, probably in each case before 176l; Jonathan may have remained, though we doubt it.
