About High Sherriff of Oxfordshireon Thomas Willats, Esq
In the Name of God Amen I ELIZABETH WILLATS of Caversham will in the County of Oxford Widow Do make and Declare my last Will and Testament as follows And first I Give and
- Bequeath unto my sons CHARLES Willats and MOSES Willats the sum of Seventy pound such to be paid unto them respectively within six months after my decease
- Also I Give and bequeath unto my three **Grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth and Susannah Rider children of my Daughter HANNAH Rider the sum of twenty pounds each to be paid unto them respectively in six months next after my decease In case they shall have attained the Age of Twenty one years or shall be married But in case they shall not then have Married that Age and shall remain in married. Then my Will is that there Legacies shall be placed out at Interest by and in the name of my Executor hereinafter named until my said Grandchildren Shall attain that Age or shall be Married and that the interest of such Legacy shall go in administration and in case of Legacy Quid pro and be paid to them respectively at there Several age of Twenty one years or Days of Marriage which shall first happen provided always and in case any or either of them my said grandchildren shall Depart this life before the Age of Twenty one years and married Then my With is that the Legacy or Legacies of her or them so Dying shall To and be paid unto the survivors or Survivor of them and payable at the same time and in the same manner as her or Their original legacy is herein before made payable or In case all of them my said Grand Children shall die in their minority and unmarried Then my Will is that these several Legacies shall be Deemed lapsed and shall sink into the Residuum Legacies of my personal Estate for the benefit of my Residuum Legacies to whom in such case I Give and bequeath the same accordingly
- Also I Give to my Daughter MARGARET Wife of William BOWER the Sum of fifty pounds to be paid her in three months after my decease. Also I give to my daughter Barbara Willats One hundred pounds to be paid her in three months after my decease.
Also I give to my Grandson THOMAS WILLATS Son of my said son Charles Willats Ten pounds to be paid to him at the Age of Twenty One years.
Also I give unto my four Daughters Susannah wife of William Bull, Elizabeth the Wife of Richard James and the said Margaret Bower and Barbara Willats all that my Leasehold Messuage or tenement with the garden Granary and Appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in the Parish of Saint Lawrence in Reading in the County of Berkshire at a_y place there rallies the Lease in the Hole To hold to them and the survivor or survivors for all the Residue and Remainder of the Term therein which at the time of my decease will be to hold and more prices But if the Survivor of my said Daughters shall die without making any assignment o Disposition there of Then I give the same for the Remainder of my term therein to such persons or person as shall and will be Invested to the Residue of my Estate and Effects and I do hereby Order and it is my Will that the same shall be and be deemed that on and Adjudged as part and parcel of such Residue Also I give unto my said four Daughters Susannah Elizabeth, Margaret, and Barbara all my household goods Linen, Hoarding, apparel, plate and Rings to be equally divided amongst them and the survivors of them as if one of them shall Survive me then I Give the whole to such survivor or in case all of them shall Die in my lifetime then I Give the same to and among my Residuary Legacies also I Give to my said Daughter Barbara Willats all that and those my Leasehold Messuages Quills Lord and Estate with the appurtenances in Coursham otherwise Caversham in the County of Oxford as aforesaid which was and were Granted and Leased to me for a certain term of years in the Lease thereof mentioned of William Sheldon Esquire To hold the same to my Daughter Barbara for all the Residue of the said Term therein which at the time of my decease will be thereto name and unexpriode In Trust to sell and Dispose there of for the most money that can be got for the same within what time She herself shall think fit and reasonable and the money arising by such sale shall be and I do hereby order the same In colulon and adjudged to be part and parcel of the Residuum of my Estate Land Effects and my Will is that the same shall be Divided baud amongst my Residuary Legacies And Lastly all the rest Residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever after payment of my Debts Legacies Testimony and Amount Expenses I give and bequeath unto my said Sons Charles Willats and Moses Willats and my said Daughters Susannah Ball, Margaret Bowyer, Elizabeth James and Barbara Willats or such of them as shall be living at my Decease to be divided between Share and Share alike. And I Do hereby make nominate and appoint my son Thomas Willats and daughter Barbara Willats into Executors of this my last Will hereby revoking all Wills and Testaments In Witness whereof I have to (a number) Sheets of paper set my hand and soul this Twenty Eighth Day of July One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Eight Elizabeth Willats Signed Sealed & ~~~~ ublished and Delivered by the Testator as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her Request and in her presence and in the such other have put our names as Witnesses here to Richard Marriet, H B J Mayhew
This Will was proved at London the Tenth Day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy One before the Right Worshipful George Day Doctor of Laws Master Keeper of Company of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully roustituted by the oath of Barbara Willats spinster the Daughter of the deceased and one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was Granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased she having been first sworn by commission duly to administer Thomas Willats the son and the other Executor having first renounced, End
