In June of 1945 newspaper article here Hollie's wife at that time was named Virginia F., residing in Tempe, AZ. (consistent with marriage date of 1939).

  • Notes: Hollie V. Daker, 88, of Phoenix, started a better life on November 21, 2006. Born February 17, 1918 in Clovis New Mexico, preceeded in death by father, Henry V. Daker, mother Edgalee Chennault, and brother Robert L. Daker. Survived by his wife of 67 years Virginia "Didge" Daker, daughters Chyrele Barnett (Stan) of New Mexico, Peggy Rivers (Ben) and Doris Risley (Irv) of California, brother Ernest Daker, California and a sister Nanci Chennault of Tempe, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews

He was brought to Tempe at three months of age and lived in the Tempe Phoenix area for his entire life. A B-17 Pilot in WW11. He flew out of Foggia, Italy and was shot down over Germany. He was a POW for nine months. Hollie went to work for CALAPCO (APS) in the gas department and retired from the Tempe division of credit and collections after 47 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially 'playing cowboy' at a friends ranch. Memorial services will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1124 N. 3 Street in Phoenix. Funeral arrangements entrusted to A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any Memorials be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Sojourn Care, 7975 N. Hayden Rd., Suite A205, Scottsdale 85258
