

Jack had several notable moments during his baseball career which includes receiving the largest salary ever paid to a player up until then for $5500 in 1892 with the Giants. He was involved in the first baseball trade ever made in 1886 when Cincinnati traded him to St. Louis along with $350 in cash for Hugh Nicol.
He opened a saloon in the Ohio River city on Seventh Street which grew into a successful business for him.
