Hosea B. Lewing

Hosea Lewing was the first born son of Bluford and Miamma Dupree Lewing. He first married Elizabeth Vidler and from that marriage one daughter was born, Emmaline Lewing and one son, William "Billy" Lewing. From his second marriage to Louisiana Oxley, daughter of Reuben Oxley, five children were born. Louisiana Oxley Lewing filed a Widow's Application and gave the place of Hosea Lewing's death as Woodville, Texas on one and on another gave Hoods Mill, La. Curt Lewing (Grandson of Hosea) once told me that Hosea had gone back to Woodville, Texas because of a legal matter. When he left in the wagon it was cold and raining hard. A couple weeks later word came that he had died. The Lewing brothers left to get his body and because of the time frame buried him there. The cause of death on the application was pneumonia.
