About Howard Pearson Cook

In Memory of Howard Pearson Cook

October 31, 1930 – February 22, 2024

The biggest smile is going to be missed Howard passed away at 93 years young peacefully at his cabin in Wolf Creek, Montana, with his daughter, Bridget and son-in-law, Dave by his side.
He was born in Littlefield, Texas and graduated high school from Spade, Texas. Go Longhorns! He was number 22 on the basketball team and prince of the homecoming court. In the Class Will he wrote, "I, Howard, do bequeath my Charles Atlas physique to James Smith." Talk about funny! He was a hunk!
He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Later on, he joined the Army National Guard in 1973 until mandatory retirement on October 30, 1991 – a day before his 61st birthday.
While in the Army he met Harriet Ann Colvin and married on June 4, 1955, at The Little Church of Fort Lincoln, Washington, D.C. They moved to Washington State and settled in Burien, Washington, raising a family. After an early retirement from King County Administration, Harriet and Howie took off on many adventurers in their motorhome.
In 1992 they moved to Ocean Shores, Washington, and enjoyed summers at the beach and motor-homing to Yuma, Arizona, San Felipe, Mexico and points beyond in the winters. What a life they had! Upon Harriet's passing on November 11, 2005, he continued to enjoy clam digging and hanging out at the beach. Then in 2020 he took off for Wolf Creek, Montana. He designed his cabin in the woods that his son-in-law, Dave, built for him. He so enjoyed the wildlife, especially the turkeys pecking on his kitchen window. Baby bear almost came knocking at his front door. So many wonderful adventures and fishing galore!
He is survived by his daughter Bridget Frazier and husband Dave of Wolf Creek, MT; sons, Brent and wife Sheri of Normandy Park, WA; Brian and wife Beverly of Seattle, WA; Brad and wife Kerri of Oxford, MS; granddaughter Brianna Barber and husband Jimmy and great-grandchildren Camden, Chloe, Carson, and Callie of Kirkland, WA; granddaughter Denae Munter and husband David and great-grandsons Judah and Asher of Tempe, AZ; and his beloved, spoiled cat, Sabrina.
The night before he passed, he was eating ice cream, laughing and telling stories. Dad, you are going to be missed so much. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.
